History – 35 Years Strong
In 1980 Betty Izzard started a small home bindery and mailing business. At that time Dick Izzard was the Director of Print at The Ohio State University. As demand increased and their clients started asking for more services Dick worked nights fulfilling orders and adding offerings. What was originally run out of the basement of their Plain City, Ohio home quickly outgrew the basement, flowed into the garage and ultimately grew too large even for the addition attached to their family home. In 1985 Izzard’s purchased their first building, a former church in the center of Plain City, Ohio. That same year marked the transition into offset printing with the purchase of their first 1 and 2 color presses. In 1986 Dick retired from his position at The Ohio State University and focused his attention fulltime on the growth and development of Bindery & Specialties (Pressworks).

By 2013 Izzard and his sons Mark and Doug had expanded the original building and purchased several more surrounding buildings including a 35,000 square foot warehouse used specifically for mailing and fulfillment. Sadly, in July 2013 the original church building was destroyed by fire. Fortunately the fire was contained to the church, which housed pre-press and bindery equipment. The 40,000 square foot space that contained the presses and all other equipment was spared. At the time of the fire the presses shut down but remarkably were all back up and running in less than 24 hours. By the end of the day the bindery equipment was up and running in another building on the Pressworks campus.

Today, the original building has been replaced by an approximately 4000 square foot pre-press and grand format printing area. The entire Pressworks campus contains over 110,000 square feet of buildings, housing state of the art equipment, and over 100 full and part time employees. Serving a vast array of clients from the local police department to multiple fortune 100 companies, Pressworks offers the following services: pre-press, web press, up to 10 color off set, bindery, digital, grand format, fulfillment, finishing services, custom web stores, and complete mailing, shipping and delivery services. Client centric, detail oriented Pressworks prides itself in offering truly exceptional customer service, high quality end products and competitive pricing.
